Service in Action

Service is one of the key aspects of both the Middle Years Programme and the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program at Lexington Middle. Through our unit plans in class, clubs and athletics, learner profile traits, and the service cycle we are trying to instill a desire to serve the greater community. We want our students and staff to remember that in order to fulfill our mission "to become compassionate, lifelong learners with an intercultural understanding and respect," we need to take an active role in the world around us.

In addition to the service opportunities mentioned above, Lynx will participate in and reflect on planned service throughout the year. In Sixth grade, students will engage with Lexington's Service Learning Cycle in their Language and Literature and Sciences classes. Seventh graders will participate in Individuals and Societies (Civics) classes and Sciences. Finally, eighth graders will complete a service project at the beginning of the year in their Individuals and Societies classes in preparation for their independent 8th grade community projects
