Lexington Middle offers a variety of classes that utilize the IB Design Cycle. The Design Cycle calls on students to follow a process where they inquire into a problem, develop ideas to solve the problem, create an actual solution, and then conduct an evaluation of that solution. For example, students in the Design Technology class will create tactile games for elder care facilities based on their research and planning. Along with stakeholders, they will evaluate and make alterations as necessary.
Lexington deeply values the creative and critical thinking as well as the evaluative and reflective skills necessary to engage in the Design Cycle. These skills will enable our students to not only better understand the world around them but also to solve local, national, and even global problems during their time with us and throughout their lives.
