Selecting Your Classes for Sixth Grade

Welcome Sixth Graders!

We are so glad you are joining us at Lexington. We know one of the really exciting things about middle school is the ability to choose some of your classes. This page will help you through the process of selecting classes you are interested in taking.

Below are the classes we plan on offering during the 2022-2023 school year. Please use the Google Form: Lexington Middle's 2022-2023 6th Grade Elective Course Registration Form to rank your choices. If you are not sure what classes you might be interested in, you can find full descriptions of each class in the slideshow or Google Doc below. The form will close on May 27, 2022.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) school, our electives fall into one of two subject areas: ARTS or DESIGN. Classes such as band, dance, drama, and visual arts are part of the ARTS subject area.  Classes such as culinary and design communications are part of the DESIGN subject area. Each year you will be required to take at least one ARTS class and one DESIGN class. You can take more than one of each, but you can’t take all of one and none of the other. When you choose your classes, you will notice that ARTS and DESIGN classes are separated.

We also have required PE and Health classes, as well as our World Language class, Spanish. These classes are core components of our IB programme, so you won’t see those classes as options on the elective course offerings.

We will do our best to make sure your schedule reflects your choices, but please keep in mind, sometimes, we can’t fit certain classes in certain schedules.
