Descriptions of our 2020-2021 electives are listed below.
Lexington is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) school, which means you will find differences between Lexington and other area middle schools in how we label and name our classes. IB has eight subject areas in the MYP and almost all of our classes fit into one of them. Your art classes are part of the ARTS subject area. A variety of classes are part of the DESIGN subject area. These classes will use something called the Design Cycle to help you identify and create solutions to problems in the world around you. Don’t worry, you will learn more about the Design Cycle later. The reason we are explaining those classes here is that you will be required to take at least one ARTS class and one DESIGN class. You can take more than one of each, but you can’t take three ARTS classes and no DESIGN classes. When you choose your classes, you will notice that ARTS and DESIGN classes are separated.
You will also not see Spanish as an option. While this is a required class, there will be some instances where certain schedules do not have room for the class.
We will do our best to make sure your schedule reflects your choices, but please keep in mind, sometimes, we can’t fit certain classes in certain schedules.
