The staff at Lexington is excited to implement our SHINE TIME program to support and enhance every student’s opportunity to learn. SHINE TIME takes place on I days during 7th period from 1:35 p.m. – 2:41 p.m.
SHINE TIME will offer opportunities to all students based on the need of the specific need of the student. For students that may struggle in a particular class, an Intervention program will be provided where he/she will be instructed on the curriculum standards not fully mastered. The students that have demonstrated a full mastery of all standards in their core subject area will participate in a Service Learning Module using the IB Design Cycle. This program will provide additional experiences for students in areas they may not have on their regular schedule and provide students with opportunities to work on unique projects.
We are excited about these two programs and know SHINE TIME will benefit students greatly toward meeting their academic goals. The expectation is for staff and students to use this time wisely with an emphasis on teaching and learning. Students may be assigned to any one of the programs throughout the school year. Grades are not the sole indicator for which program the students will be attending during each two week SHINE TIME session.
We ask if you need to pick up your child early on I days, to please pick them up prior to 1:35 p.m. or after 2:41 p.m. as many of these opportunities will not allow a student to attend a partial class. We appreciate your assistance and we can’t wait to share our excitement and success stories about our SHINE TIME program!
